Topshop to Launch New Cosmetics Line

I first saw the news in my email from WWD. It's been nearly 15 years since Topshop dabbled in the makeup biz, and now the clothing chain is back in action. Starting in May, the British retailer will be selling a range of cosmetics at its top 30 stores, its New York shop, and on its website. The line consists of both permanent and seasonal collections and will include 97 products encased in fun packaging. Topshop designer Lizzie Dawson explains in WWD , "It's playful, almost like the Topshop girl drew it herself." The company plans to put out more "experimental" trend collections four to six times a year. The line will consist of colour palettes inspired by Topshop clothing and accessories, along with a sheer Skin Tint and Skin Glow in lieu of foundation or powder. In addition, there will also be four to six seasonal collections throughout the year that will include a trendier, slightly more adventuresome selection. Topshop sees colour as a valuable way to a

Skincare samples from magazines

There was this day that I had to stayover at the boyfriend's and realised that I forgot to pack some of my skincare. Coincidentally, I found some skincare satchets in some magazines as I was going through them. Why not right? So I took out a couple: oil makeup remover by Bio essence and Lancome UV Expert sunblock/makeup base SPF50 PA+++. So here's my review on these 2 products based on the samples I tried. But first, let me clarify that for me to review, I'll definitely have to have some form of comparison. Like you wouldn't know what a good pineapple tart (oh btw, Happy Lunar New Year!) tasted like if you haven't tried a few. You can't say whether something is good if you haven't tried others out there right? So for the bio essence oil makeup remover, my comparison would be Fancl's mild cleansing oil. I have to say that the bioessence one pales in comparison. Firstly, it doesn't seem to wash off cleanly. I still feel the oily feeling after I rin

High Definition Makeup

I'm quite surprised at myself (in a bad way) for not knowing what High-Definition makeup was. I just chanced upon it while going through my daily updates on Fashionista. Going through the story on MAC's new Tabloid Collection , I couldn't figure out what HD makeup was. I only knew that it made people look airbrushed. A quick search on the internet and I found some definitions: From Beauty and The Blog : "Originally designed for use in film and television, high-definition makeup provides a flawless, picture-perfect complexion and is invisible to the 6x magnification of high-def cameras (and the naked eye!), thanks to: innovative, superfine microparticles that blend imperceptibly into skin photochromatic pigments that react with all types of lighting The result is skin that looks naturally flawless whether on screen or on the street." From About.com : "High definition makeup is almost as popular as mineral makeup. However, the really great thing about high de
